I went to Protaras for work. I didn't like it. It is touristic and of poor quality in general. You don't feel like you are in Cyprus; it's just a resort. Many waiters and assistants in restaurants and stores are foreigners, and they don't speak a word of Greek!

This a very touristic place.
This a very touristic place. I was there 2 times, both in low season. In November the town is almost dead - no tourists, so, it is difficult to find a place to eat, but if you know where, it is a nice time to visit. The prices goes lower, beautiful beaches, nice hotels with spa. Highly recommend to visit in October-November.

An area that seems more British than Greek and sadly mostly closed up at the beginning of November apart from the pubs. The beaches are good with great swimming and snorkelling but extremely busy. Restaurants were generally disappointing although search hard and there are a few hidden taverns and coffee shops. Most buildings are concrete (not stone as in the villages, new build type), roads and transport links are good.

Great place for families or 30+ people.
Great place for families or 30+ people. It has plenty of good bars and restaurants but no under 30 craziness. You can get a drink at 2am but without any idiots. Never saw a drunk or out of control group in my 4 weeks there. If you want crazy go to Ayia Napa.
You want fun, friendly, beaches and a good evening life, go to Protaras.

Fantastic place, lots of bars, restaurants, good food,...
Fantastic place, lots of bars, restaurants, good food, lively bars and some slightly quieter. Sports on at some of the bars for football etc. Some tribute acts (although not my thing) Elvis, Cher, Meatloaf etc etc etc.
Jokers square had a live band on most nights playing rock music, great bar, great food also and a friendly welcome.
Cheers bar brilliant for drinks and breakfasts, owner very friendly and great staff, inside area (you'll need it during the hot days) and an outside area for evening with live entertainments on some times.
Lots of other bars we enjoyed but cannot remember the names sorry.
There is a small bar on the beach that serves drinks in real melon and pineapple shells called the rising beach bar which is brilliant for a drink after a day at the beach.
Also a place called Zorbas which does great food and drinks, well worth a visit (near Fig Tree Bay-ish)
The whole area from end-to-end is about 1 mile walk (maybe less) so no need for transport really, however taxis are very expensive if you need to use them (sore knee so we used them a few times) circa 10 euros for what was about a 1 mile journey!
You can jump on a bus to Ayia Napa if that's your thing, I don't know how much though, but they are quite frequent.
We loved the place, but we have been 7 times!!

During my visit, my favorite places were the beach and the main street. I dined at the restaurants located along the main street. Navigating around Protaras was very easy. As for my next visit, there's nothing I would specifically avoid.
The location and setting of this property is excellent with a peaceful garden area with sun beds and bar and the beautiful beach cove easily accessible below. The sea is crystal clear and with some rocks to the side, it's good for snorkelling also. There is a coastal path running alongside if you fancy a stroll.
This was our first experience of an "adult only" hotel and we enjoyed it very much. As it was a short trip, we decided on all inclusive and found this very convenient and a good value for money upgrade option.
A nice clean room with balcony and kind of a sea view (2nd floor in the building west to the road). Located remotely from crowded areas, which may be a plus or a minus depending on your wishes. Anyway Protaras and Agia Napa are easily accessible by 101/102 bus stopping just in front of the hotel. Nearest Konnos beach is definitely above average on Cyprus. Capo Greco is not far from and is worth visiting by a walk along the seashore. A lovely tavern with tasty cypriot cuisine is located in 10 min walk towards Protaras.
This is the friendliest hotel I have ever stayed at - lovely staff, immaculately clean, great pool and unbelievable value for money. There's nothing flash about it but who cares, it's comfortable with a lovely vibe and run by a wonderful family 👏🏻
I stayed here 3 years ago and had a great time but this was even better, helping me have the best holiday I can remember 👌🏻
Wouldn't consider staying anywhere else in Cyprus - will be returning here next year as soon as flights are released 😃
Super simple place but with the great location. Exactly what you need for your beach holidays, 2-3 days.
Centrally located 5-15 minutes from everything in Protaras.
White building, white walls, only the bare necessities are available.
The beach is just 3min, and the Fig Tree Bay is 15min away.
Very friendly and helpful staff! Everyone, from the receptionist to the cleaning ladies.
Nice a simple breakfast at the hotel next door - 8EUR per person is good value in the area.
Nice breakfast and nice pool for relaxing! The room was comfortable and there was a daily cleaning service. The location was nice and a bit outside of the confusion of the center of Protaras. Water kettle and coffee mugs and coffee/tea are available in the room. Check Nautilus scuba diving center just 50 meters from the hotel - the best combination of relaxation (Papouis Protaras hotel) and aquatic activities (Nautilus) - we did our PADI advanced diver course there.
Nice place to stay in Protaras. First line from the best beach of Protars. Location is really perfect. Also the city center is just 200 meters away. Hotel has a lot of comfortable sunbeds in front of beach and near the pool.
Food on the breakfast and at dinner is enough different and quality. I like different menu type for dinner for every weekday (Mexican, Japanize, Cyprus and so on).
Pool was clean and not overcrowded, when we have stayed.
One of the best apartments I ever stayed in! The balcony is really big, with amazing seaview, table tennis, sunbeds, a bar with TV, tables, chairs and a Hot tub which was amazing! The apartman is very well equiped with everything you could ask for and very spaceus. Every room has a private bathroom and access to the balcony. It is right in the center of Protaras, with a Best Buy Supermarket right below. About 1 minute walk from the beach.
fantastic location, superb staff, from reception to the cleaners , the waiters , special mention to the fantastic Justine on the lobby bar, above and beyond, always has a smile and nothing is too much trouble no how busy , definitely the best hotel in Protaras, if not the entire East coast!!
Recommend for everyone, families, couples, solo travellers, everyone is made to feel welcome, thank you for a wonderful time
The hotel has an excellent location, beachfront and in the heart of Protaras centre (near to shops, restaurants, bar etc.). Hotel’s spaces and rooms were clean and with a really nice Scandinavian interior design !! What I really loved about this hotel is the friendly and very helpful staff with excellent behavior and humor !!! Hope to be able to stay there again soon !!! ☺️
I liked the hotel's garden full of palm trees and flowers. The sea view is marvelous, specially when the sun rises. It feels like a little corner of paradise where you can recharge your soul batteries.
The staff is really nice and lovely. They make you feel very welcomed.
Food and drinks are tasty and there is a rich and very good breakfast.
I like this hotel in general. Protaras beach is incredible and people from stuff are extremely friendly. I liked the most of things from this hotel. Food is very descent so I didn't experience any issues in this hotel. This place is made to enjoy. Hotel is in renovation at the moment so it will be just better and better in future, I guess.
Exceptionally clean and modern facilities. The people who work there are exceptionally warm and genuine. Wonderful spa, gym, pool and beach. The rooms have smart technology. If you want to relax, this is the place to go. Every other hotel in Protaras will feel cheap and dirty in comparison to this one. Beautiful views.
The best and most varied hotel food I had so far (we had all inclusive). The rooms were big and comfortable. In the photos you can see a small beach in front, but I actually recommend a larger beach that’s about 100 m to the left, which is very child friendly. We really enjoyed our stat here.
One of the best hotels ever stayed in Cyprus! Great staff always with a smile make you feel like home ready to help with anything! Everything is spotless clean, great spacious rooms, huge variety and tasty breakfast! Perfect location on sea front. overall i would give 11/10 if I could!!!
The beds are really comfortable
The pool is nice
The food and drink is nice and reasonably priced.
MAYA (if that's how it's spelt) was lovely me and My partner felt so comfortable there. Location is great.
Best hotel in Cyprus for the money. Would recommend to anyone.
Stayed in one bedroom apartment with Terrace and Garden View. Clean and spacious rooms. Location is great - close to everything, walking distance to the beach and restaurants in Protaras strip. Lidl is right next to the hotel. Nice breakfast. Friendly and polite staff.
Our room N17 was clean, quiet and fully equipped. The pool is also clean, and we used it even late night. The hotel is in 10 min walk from the best beach in Protaras - Fig tree bay. At the moment the promenade is under construction, but we used it to get to the beach.
Very close the beach, Protaras' main street. Quiet localization. Apartments at first floor have 3 balconies!!! Very nice and helpful owner. Be aware that this is budget hotel, thus do not expect too much luxury.
