Loved the surrounding area (with the alpacas). The room & bed were both super comfortable to stay in. Really enjoyed all the little touches in the decor and the services provided (cake in the afternoon, breakfast was amazing, great recommendations of nearby restaurant, the mini bar had tons of options). Staff very friendly and welcoming. Very close to the deepest lake in England - would definitely come back and stay here!

To be honest what makes this for us is the host and owner, Claire. She was welcoming, warm and friendly and went the extra mile, even taking my leaking boots into the drying room without being asked on the second day we stayed (I had asked her the first day but she wasn't around when we got back from our wet walk on the second day and I had left them in the boot tray downstairs. )
The farm is lovely and so very peaceful with wonderful views and well placed for both the west lakes (or the rest of the lakes depending on how long you want to spend in the car) and the coast.
Room was comfortable and large and the en suite good with a powerful and warm shower and radiators to dry towels on.
Breakfast was good and Claire was flexible with the options on offer.
Gosforth, the nearby village has pubs and a restaurant (book in advance for the latter) and a fantastic village bakery with plenty of choices on the menu. There are also plenty of other pubs which offer food in the area , detail on these and walks in the area were in our room in the information pack.
We would stay here again as it met and even exceeded some of our expectations, was so scenic and peaceful and was a good base for us.
Set 14 km from Wasdale, Scalderskew Shepherds Hut offers accommodation with free WiFi and free private parking. This holiday home features a garden.

Really clean and kept in great condition, the . The location is a little isolated but this actually is great as there is no light pollution and also quiet which makes it perfect for a relaxing holiday, in front of the hut is a large field with sheeps next to the hut which is really cute.

We enjoyed our stay at the Kellbank Hotel, but unfortunately, the village of Gosforth left something to be desired. While there was a shop available, they were unable to provide us with fresh sandwiches. As a result, we had to drive up to three miles in order to obtain them before embarking on our climb up Scafell Pike.

I was pleasantly surprised by this village or little town.
I was pleasantly surprised by this village or little town. I loved the warmth and homeliness of the red stone vernacular architecture - cottages, farmhouses and barns. The churchyard is not to be missed (the church itself was closed, unfortunately) nor is Gosforth Hall Hotel. I was in Gosforth on a Sunday evening, the worst time to find anywhere open for food with the added complication that I follow a strict vegan diet. I was amazed, therefore, to find that the Budgen's store also has a pizzeria but, sadly, the vegan pizza option was not available. There was another pizza place, a bakery and a cafe, all closed during my visit. There are 2 town centre pubs and a free public car park.

A very small village but has a Budgens supermarket, a lovely bakery & a couple of nice places to eat & drink. The Lion & Lamb, and the Kellbank are nice pubs with good food.
Lovely, historic church with some interesting history.
Just off the A595 main road that takes you to other villages/areas.
Close to Muncaster Castle, a good day out.

For a small place they cater very well for visitors, the food we had when we went out to eat was excellent (The Lion and the Lamb) and not stupid money either. Gosforth has been catering for climbers, hikers etc for years and years and they have got it right. Before I forget there was free parking there with a donation box only, where in Britain will you find that, well done Gosforth.

Stayed at The Kellbank which had a superb restaurant and menu. Also visited The Lion and the Lamb, The Globe and the Simply Fresh shop which were all great friendly places.
There is a cash machine in the main street but all venues take card payments.
Location is perfect for a trip to Scafell Pike, took around 20 minutes to get to Wasdale starting point by car.
What an amazing stay! We arrived late and the owner welcomed us and had no issues at all. My gluten free dietary requirements were taken into consideration and the owner went above and beyond yo meet them.
The quality and variety of breakfast is comparable to a 5 star hotel. As are all the little snacks and the variety of teas in the room.
Excellent location for doing Scaffel Pike from Wasdale.
I would definitely recommend Raynors Farm to anyone.
It was one of the highlights of this trip.
Really great breakfast included, loads of variety with vegan and gluten free options! The staff were great - checking if our baby needed a high chair and that the food was all ok at the restaurant, also super friendly and helpful with local knowledge. Shower/bath was fab. Bed comfy. Room very clean! Biscuits in room was a nice touch! Lots of parking and good location in the Lake District. We were very happy with the Kellbank! Room was a very good price also!
This cottage has a really cosy feel ,it is fully equipped, nicely decorated with really good attention to detail and in a really beautiful location. We really appreciated the warm welcome and genuine interest into how we were finding our stay.It was great to have milk, eggs and tea and coffee etc provided. It was amazing to wake up and look out at the sheep and goats in the field and to be a 5min drive to Gosforth's bakery and general store.
Based on the price paid for a saturday night stay £49 - it was good value for money. It’s central, there’s parking that can be used nearby, breakfast isnt included but the shop across the road offers breakfast items, there are a number of places to eat on your doorstep. The rooms are comfortable and better than expected- check in was efficient and friendly. The bar area downstairs was fine and there’s the options of other bars nearby
I liked the price - really good value for money. The accommodation was perfect for me and my two dogs, no frills, just what I needed. The location right in the center of Gosforth was great - other pubs within easy walking distance for meals and a local shop with cafe that does breakfasts and lunches, as well as a bakery. The chap behind the bar who checked me in, etc was very helpful - his name was Jamie.
The hotel was dog friendly and we were allowed to have the dog with us at dinner as well. The surroundings were very quiet and calm and with great views from the corner. It had a children's playground as well. The parking was free and it was easy to communicate with the staff who were friendly.
The food from the restaurant was very very good despite the time that took to get to us.
Location was excellent for a visit to the Wastwater area. Gosforth has a free car park in the centre, and a Sainsbury's Fresh if you need any supplies. The accommodation had easy access 24/7 in and out, and lets face it was very cheap at £35 per night. However, I've stayed in guesthouses in Keswick and Ambleside that are comparatively priced and the experience was better.
Cosy and comfortable lounge and bedrooms. Enough logs etc for a fire on one evening if wanted.
Nice to have the option to order Caribbean food but really tasty food available in the village. We ate at the Italian which was superb. Sunday, we had amazing pies at Gosforth Hall and on the last evening we went next door which has an extensive menu some of which is homemade.
The location was brilliant, near to the West Lakes, the beach, and a lovely forest. And Gosforth centre to walk down to. Very well-kept, old property with modern yet sympathetic upgrades. The beer garden is large and there was a band on too. Great people and staff and lovely food.
Very friendly staff. Couldn't do enough for us. Clean, modern inn with buckets of interesting character. Loved the evening atmosphere having food on the terrace. Cannot recommend Gosforth Hall inn and the team highly enough. By far the best accommodation of our holiday in the lakes.
Immaculately clean and beautiful decor. Fantastic and helpful host. The place offered a great selection of drinks to purchase from the honest bar and a good selection of breakfast options. One of the best boutique hotels I have had the pleasure of staying in.
During our two-day stay, we enjoyed a delicious breakfast and evening dinner while receiving excellent service from the staff. It was also nice to know that the hotel is dog-friendly, despite not bringing our own as we were flying in from Ireland.
Couldn’t be any more happy with my brief stay at this hotel. I fully intend to return in the not too distant future. Have to give a special mention to the staff who were absolutely excellent.
