The old town is very picturesque, easily walkable, and very relaxed, lots of restaurants with outdoor dining, also lovely sitting by the port dining, long promenade along lovely beach. Less touristy than Chania. Located between Chania and Heraklion, makes it ideal for visiting both as well as archaeological sites etc.

Rethymno has the right mix of old town charm, modern hotels, a beach and a nice promenade. Plenty of places that serve authentic Greek food at very affordable prices, nice shopping opportunities, a pretty good beach - overall, I think Rethymno is better than Heraklion or Chania for a vacation stay.

As with everywhere in Greece, food was phenomenal.
As with everywhere in Greece, food was phenomenal. I even enjoyed the humorous "hard sell" barker at a dockside Taverna. "Are you hungry? You look hungry! Your hunger is subconscious!" and so forth. As an overweight psychiatrist in the States, both my wife and I were rolling in laughter. "If he is hungry now, what will he look like when he is full?"

We have stayed here before but last time further out of town in a villa. This trip we stayed in town within walking distance of everything. There are so many different restaurants we could have stayed for six months to sample them all. Would recommend finding the little tavernas up the little side streets for the most interesting dishes. House wine is great value and nearly always decent. If you want to splash out a bit a private boat rental to take you up the coast is well worth it and can be found in the old harbour from a number of vendors. If you like a beach there is a fantastic one that stretches from the East end of town. And if you don't like the sand there are some steps to access the rocky area of the sea to the west of the castle.
The hotel is beautiful and clean. Everything looks new and well maintained.
The room was big and comfortable. We enjoyed the staying very much.
There are three pools (one indoor) and the private beach across the road, so you can always find a space to sit and enjoy.
The food was very good in the breakfast and the chef created, with a smile, special dishes for my vegan wife everyday.
The place is very close to the old town (15m walk) and it's located straight on the boardwalk.
Had a lovely stay. I arrived early and made use of the pool area and some much-needed shade while I waited for my room. The room was very nice with a balcony and a view of the sea and Fortezza. The breakfast was exceptional and is on the top floor of the hotel with indoor and outdoor seating options. The hotel is close enough to walk to and from the bus station and old town - an uphill climb back to the hotel but nice to be a little out of the heavy tourist area.
Definitely the staff! They are so friendly and always trying the best to meet our expectation. Special thanks to Lena, who gave us many good trip suggestions and helped us to book a day trip to Santorini. The hotel is not super new, but everything is well maintained. The location is also great - 10 minutes pleasant walk by the sea, and you'll be in the beautiful old town of Rethymno. The breakfast is also very delicious.
The hotel is well located within old town, off a quiet street and within walking distance to the beach. The staff was very kind and made sure we had all we needed, gave us suggestions for things to do in town, and arranged for shuttle service to and from the airport. Additionally I appreciated all of the ways the hotel incorporated sustainable choices. The breakfast was incredible and the surroundings are gorgeous.
The hotel was clean, with modern decor. The staff were all incredibly friendly, and really helpful. The hotel is in a great location, a 15 min walk to Rethynmo old town, opposite the beach and with plenty of bars and restaurants within steps of the entrance. There was lots of parking around, although it was a bit of a fight to find a spot sometimes. Overall a great hotel, would recommend
Lovely location in the centre of old town, yet still quiet and peaceful. Very friendly staff. The hotel was every bit as beautiful in reality as it looked on the Web, which these days is a rarity. Highly recommended. Surrounded by a wide choice of restaurants offering good value for money. If we return to Crete we will definitely go back to this hotel.
good location, close to the beach. the main pool was lovely but the smaller pool over the road was much quieter and a lovely space to relax. The food was ok, standard buffet type food good enough selection but it’s not worth doing all inclusive or half board as there are so many lovely restaurants and bars on the beach front.
Amazing location - you’re in amongst the old town in seconds and on the beach in minutes. Fantastic for parking - there is a private car park just opposite and even in high season the guys there will get you a space sorted. The room was really clean and every room had a balcony. Pool is a good size and temperature!
This hotel is located in the old town. It is very nicely set up. The remainings of the bulding were kept but restored in a modern/ new way. The hotel has a small patio which was very lovely. The staff is very nice and helpfull, the rooms are clean and it offers everything you need.
The hotel's location is fantastic, right by the beach and within walking distance of the charming old town. The staff were incredibly welcoming and attentive, always ready to assist with a smile.
The room was beautifully designed, comfortable, and clean.
Everything was perfect, the rooms, the location, the breakfast, the staff! Don't miss the chance to dine in the restaurant. Make sure that you ask the staff to book a set of sandbeds on the beach bar in front the hotel as it can get crowded.
Location is fantastic and so central to everything. The two men that run the hotel just couldn’t be more helpful (especially providing us with a charger and much needed corkscrew!) Situated right on the beachfront and spotlessly clean
The best part is the breakfast which is cooked to order from the menu. Staff are helpful and very friendly.
Close to beach, but it is just like all the hotels along the road. A bit far from old town.
Clean and spacious room. Beach House has beautiful grounds with swimming pool, Tiki Bar, with chairs and umbrellas on the beach. Great breakfast buffet. Staff was friendly and very helpful.
Out stay at Kipos hotel was amazing. Excellent location, just few steps from the old town, clean and comfortable rooms and great hosts made our vacation an unforgettable experience.
